Well here I am again. I know I don't post as regularly as I used to, but I don't know where the time goes, I really don't. My weeks are pretty full although my trips to the National have finally come to an end - helpful and interesting though the workshops were, they really were time-consuming.
I just thought I'd pop in and give you an update so that anyone coming here from the Brain & Spine Foundation can see that there IS light at the end of the tunnel, and that the post-stroke fatigue DOES get better. The biggest thing, I suppose, is learning to recognise your limitations and being patient. I know that just after my SAH I thought I'd be back at work really quickly. That didn't happen and I struggled with the horrendous fatigue, the cognitive issues and, although I didn't see it back then, the emotional ones too.
I am loath to say "I'm back to normal". After all, what is normal anyway? But I certainly feel a lot more like the old me and although I still push myself, I now know not to overdo it.
I might not come by quite so often now, as I work on my various projects, and I don't feel the need to tell the whole world about what I'm working on: when there is news, I'll come and blog about it, that's for sure. In the meantime, stay safe, stay happy, and enjoy LIFE!
*thank you James Brown!
Hi Jen,
It's great to hear that you're doing so well! Lovely to see an example of "light at the end of the tunnel", especially as you have shared your experiences of fatigue with us before - feels like we've been on a journey with you : )
Thanks for all your support for the Foundation and we'll keep checking in to see how you're doing!
