Before I went on holiday I stopped off at Waterstones and got me some "Buy 3 for the price of 2" paperbacks. The first one I got stuck into was unputdownable so I finished it in double-quick time. Luckily, this is one that my mum didn't have already, so she started it after me and it was wonderful to see her laugh out loud while reading...
Yes, it was Dawn French's autobiography, "Dear Fatty"
It's written in the form of letters to loved ones (both in real life and fantasy) and "Fatty" actually refers to her partner-in-crime Jennifer Saunders. If you want to get a flavour of the book, click on that link and check out the "Look inside" feature. It's well worth the read. More anon.
Oh, my. I am so getting this book now. I just read the first few pages from the look inside feature, and I'm crying my eyes out. I was 26 when my Dad died, and I too feel like there is so much that has happened that he didn't get to experience with me. I loved her witty writing style. She is funny, and smart, and just wonderful! So getting this book now! Thanks for the recommendation! :)

Oh sweetie, I am sorry it made you cry!! She is a very funny lady but yes, that letter to her dad was very moving. I don't know if you "get" British humour but you can look on Youtube for The Vicar of Dibley or French & Saunders and you'll see who she is. Great lady! Enjoy the book xxx
