Stayed up late last night adding pages to my December Daily book, after watching Kirsty's Homemade Christmas. The boyf started watching it with me, but he's really NOT into Christmas AT. ALL. so although I think he liked the idea of making the event less commercial, less about spending money on the High Street and more about making stuff, he still wandered off down to his den after a short while. Claire was working till 9pm so I couldn't even share it with her but oh how I loved it! We've always crafted and especially at Christmas. My mother used to use greenery, branches and berries to decorate the door and elsewhere; I was famous in my late teens for my own concoction, a wreath made with lots of colourful boiled sweets and other goodies (I am thinking of doing one this year), and we often made paper chains - ooh that reminds me, I bought some Cath Kidston ones so we must make those some time soon! Oh, and paper snowflakes of course, mustn't forget those. Kirsty taught a class of children in Bristol how to make salt dough decorations, and that is something that is huge in French "Maternelles" - it's called "pâte à sel" and I used to have all kinds of goodies made by my daughter's fair hand in salt dough. Ah the memories!! Anyway, I'm just taking a short break to write this, but I really should be getting on with some work. Toodles!
(by the way, my stats tell me there is a visitor from St Maur des Fossés, which tickles me pink because that's where I was born! If it's you - please say hi!!!)
Hi Jen - am fascinated by your boiled sweet wreath - do post a pic if you make one this year, it sounds fab!
