Gosh, doesn't time fly when you're having fun? This week was HECTIC, and I was even rushing round the shops on Christmas Eve to get sprouts and satsumas although I thought all my shopping was done. The boyf went off on 24th to spend Christmas with his mum (what a pain it is to have NO transport on Christmas day...) and Claire and I put on Carols from Kings and listened to the gorgeous choir and the lessons. It was a lovely sedate start to the Christmas celebrations.
On Christmas morning I whipped up some cocoa and Claire and I sat and opened our presents. First she had her stocking and then we got stuck in to the presents proper, with Classic FM carols on in the background. Claire gave me the most gorgeous mug from Starbucks AND a Starbucks card with money on it to keep me in caffeine for the next few weeks...
I got Claire a gorgeous satchel from Cath Kidston, and I was so worried that it would be delivered when she was at home in case it had a postmark on it from CK. I'm glad I was there to receive it: the parcel was a pale blue plastic envelope COVERED in a Cath Kidston pattern. It would SO have given the game away! She loves it, so I'm glad I chose it. I also gave her a necklace from Accessorize, a gold anchor pendant, which the salesgirl had gift-wrapped. Only when Claire opened it... the packet was empty. I was gutted for her - luckily today I went back to the shop and explained the problem, showed them the receipt, and they gave me a new one no questions asked. Phew.
In the afternoon, we went to the hospital, which is only at the end of our road, to take mince pies to the doctors as I knew that Arla was on call from 9am to 9.30pm. When we got there, she said she'd had a microwaved patients' dinner and the Registrar hadn't even had that, so the mince pies were most welcome. I'm glad we were able to bring a bit of "Christmas cheer", if only for a few moments.
Anyway, today's been another day of chilling (apart from that brief foray into town), and I'm now sitting here in my Cath Kidston-esque Primark PJs (grey with a little rose pattern) and slippers, the tree and fairy lights are on, and I'll be signing off until next time. Hope you've had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones. Peace x
