Gosh, I spent an absolute fortune on books this weekend! I went to Waterstones because I wanted to pick up some Cath Kidston stationery for a friend, and they have all these 3 for 2 deals which reel you in... I got one chick-lit, a couple of serious ones, Barack Obama's book on HOPE and erm that's all I can remember at the moment! I shall take a picture of course, but they are up in my bedroom and I'm down in the basement right now. Plus, it's dark and I hate using the flash - it washes everything out.
Anyway, we had a great weekend. Yesterday I did some shopping and then had my hair cut, before cooking dinner for our "girlie night in" with some friends. They arrived just after 7.30pm and we had a lovely time, laughing, chatting and generally chilling. The OH arrived rather late from an unsuccessful trip to London (he was supposed to pick up my iPhone but they didn't have it, drat!), but was banished to the basement where he has set up his Mac and a little office.
Today, I went back out to get some stuff I hadn't had time to get yesterday - basically buying up stationery and toiletries that we desperately needed. It was bitterly cold; the wind chill factor was minus something, I tell you! I came home, slumped in front of the Ice Hockey on TV with a nice cup of tea, and then spent the early evening read some of a book that DD got me the other day (Petite Anglaise by Catherine Sanderson, whose blog I read). There's a lot to do before we go away, but DD is not working this week, so it'll be her job (insert evil grin here).
Oh, I'm doing this in reverse order: on Friday I popped out at lunchtime to go to the bank and then took my camera along to Leadenhall Market, which brought back great memories. 20 something years ago I worked in Lombard Street, in the City, and used to go to Leadenhall practically every lunchtime. It's changed quite a bit - the food stores that were there are now all designer gear! I took some pics; you can stand on one corner and take pictures of the 1800-and-something building on one side, then without moving you can take a pic of the Lloyds building. It's quite impressive. The bank and, practically next door, the Sainsbury's where I get lunch if I have the cash... Pretty boring architecture. Then, just round the corner:
Yummy Paul's bakery.... And now, look away if you are offended by nudity. I spied this ad when I got off the bus at London Bridge. I didn't dare go closer to get an unspoiled view - I care too much what people would think LOL! It's a gorgeously artistic pic (yes it IS!) that made me think of my sis Carolyn, whose family is all about Rugby down in Toulouse and who had a calendar rather like this, hee hee.... DD called me a perv when I showed her my latest shots :)
And, oh dear, I've just spied another ad underneath the bridge, urging "go large". Well, no comment!!
