I came home to a lovely surprise today: the other half found me 3 pairs of pretty doorknobs for my dresser! I didn't even know he knew that's what I wanted. I must admit, he does have a brilliant memory, unlike me. In fact, he's rather like an elephant in that respect (which is why you NEVER want to cross him! LOL).
Look! This is the top pair:
He told me off for being "lazy" and not removing the original knobs so I could paint the doors. Oops! I will have to do a little patch job there, but aren't they PRETTY? I also have a green pair and a different blue and white pair. I just kept exclaiming and oohing and aahing - it just seemed such a sweet thing to do.
I'm off to my bed now with my latest book "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philipa Gregory. I read the third in the trilogy first, which is a bit silly, but they all stand alone as far as I can tell. It's great, and a film of it is coming out soon with Scarlett Johansen and Natalie Portman. I really really want to see it. But, strangely, it looks like James May from Top Gear is in that trailer. Hmmm, I wonder if it's him?!
Ooh talking of films, I saw a poster for Le Scaphandre et le Papillon (the Diving Bell and the Butterfly) which is coming out soon. The book, which I read years ago, is a true story, dictated by a man who could only move one eyelid due to "locked-in syndrome". It is amazing and moving. You can see the trailer here - another one I want to see! (English version here).
Before I go, please go here and see if you can help my friend Kirsty's little girl. They need to raise £5000 to take her to Nevada to see if the doctors there can find out what's wrong with her. Every little helps. You can read more about Ellie here. Thank you!
