I don't know where 2007 went, I really don't. But between coming home from Christmas in France and last night, I really felt the promise of something new. Something big. Something great! Well, that's my greatest wish for 2008, anyway. I've always said things happen when they are ready to happen and not before; well, at the moment I feel like I'm in the same kind of limbo as I was 10 years ago, waiting for the moment to be right to move back to the UK. Now that my finances appear to be on the right track, I'm waiting for everything to be aligned in the universe so that I can go off and do my own thing. I quite enjoy my job, as it happens, but it's not what I want to be doing from now until retirement!
Otherwise, I hope you all had a lovely New Year's Eve. DD went off to spend the evening with her best friend and family, and the OH borrowed a car to come and see me, so we could drink champers in front of the TV (I particularly wanted to see Girl with a Pearl Earring). Anyway, not long after we'd sat down with dinner, he got a call that made him all grumpy and he said he had to go because the guy's other car had broken down and he wanted this one back. OOps! So off he goes, and I settle down to a quiet evening alone. Later on I got a call saying he really didn't want to take the car back, so he was feigning big traffic jams in central London (sneaky!) and he was on his way back. He got through the door, I poured Bucks Fizz and just as Jools Holland was counting down to midnight we raised our glasses. Aaaah! It was a lovely surprise, actually.
So today, he really couldn't avoid taking the car back. I'm still in my Cath Kidston-inspired PJs, DD is home with bright red hair and we've watched La Vita e Bella in Italian (with subtitles) with our lunch.
I have the paint and paint brushes ready, so in a little while I am going to finally get started on my dresser, and maybe I'll even scrap a bit later.
Happy New Year to you all. You might even take the opportunity to de-lurk and leave me a New Year's message; it would be most appreciated!
Bonne Annee ma choutte.
