Yes Lizzy, I see you fluttering your eyelashes at me.... well if you want to meet at Starbucks I might find a little something for your Christmas...... It has to be this weekend or Thursday though.
Anyway, so yesterday I went to Bristol for my uncle's funeral. Although it was a sad occasion, it was a beautiful service, honouring his life, which he lived to the full. I also got to spend some time with my cousins, who I haven't seen for the longest time. Nearly all of my siblings came over from France (and one from Manchester), so it was a great family occasion. My aunt was bearing up really well, but she did say to my brother that her soulmate and half of her had gone, which was very moving. 50 years doing everything together, it must be tough for her.
In other news, I had my first appraisal with my boss on Wednesday, and it wasn't the best. It wasn't bad exactly, but he obviously wants me to be more proactive and manage HIS time better, which is really hard when you can't even read the person you are working with. He did give me compliments on various qualities he says I have, so I am trying very hard not to take the constructive criticism to heart, and just try and be more focused. At least I've lasted a lot longer than his previous PAs did!
Well, who cares about all that? It's nearly Christmas, and there is still so much to do. I have a full weekend ahead of crafting and gift making. I have to stock up my etsy shopette, too, as I made another sale and I have some more stuff to put in there. It's just so time-consuming taking good pictures etc and uploading them.... That's why it's empty, but keep checking back!
Last, but not least, my brother called tonight to say that when he got back to Manchester from the funeral, he found that his wife had been unwell (she has been in and out of hospital for 6 months or so), but she was cheerful enough. Unfortunately, later that night he dozed off on the sofa and when he woke up he found her in a pool of blood at the bottom of the stairs, having collapsed or fallen somehow, maybe due to her bad hip. She is now in hospital and she not only has a head wound, c-diff and MRSA, she has also had a bleed in the brain! Poor A, she really has been suffering so much this year. My brother actually told the staff that he thought she had had a stroke, because she was mumbling exactly like my mother did last year, so he asked her to smile, say a simple sentence, and lift up her arms/legs, which are ways of detecting a stroke. Guess what? The staff thought not, but sent her for a CT scan, and she did indeed have a bleed, probably due to the head injury. It's all very, very sad. And I hope she gets better soon. Any spare prayers gratefully received!
I am so sorry about what happend to your Brother's wife. So many tragedies! My heart goes out to the two of them. I wish them well. Love always- Moi
