I'm so excited! I'm getting to meet my pal Clare from "oop North"! I met her first on UKScrappers and we now chat on the Pad, and she's cool ;) It appears she is coming to London for the weekend, so I jumped at the chance to meet up, and we are going to hang out after work on Friday. Yaaaaay!
Otherwise, I feel so tired this week. I was a "patient" in the Membership exams at the hospital at the weekend - I was on standby in case someone couldn't make it, because I live right next door, and lo and behold I got called in on Sunday. In the event, I didn't get much sleep because I kept waking up in a panic both nights, thinking I'd missed the alarm. Then on Sunday I had to "act" all morning and tell my medical history to 10 candidates, which is more exhausting than it seems. It was great fun seeing some of the consultants I used to work with, and I was beaming because I heard nothing but nice things - such as a new Registrar saying how he'd been told how fantastic I was and he couldn't wait to meet me! I might not work there any more, but it was a huge part of my life.
And at work, things are still going well. I'm working on 3 trips at the mo - my boss goes off shooting in France (near Le Mans) Friday and Saturday, comes back Saturday night, off to Hong Kong on business Sunday and comes back Wednesday! Then we are organising a huge shoot at a well-known estate near Toledo called La Ventosilla, plus an outing for the ladies who don't want to shoot with their other half... I don't approve of shooting live things, but country people will tell you it's necessary. Plus, the pheasants etc are bred specially. Sorry if this offends any animal lovers out there. I know it won't be popular in my own family! The guests, like my boss, all have old country estates and lots of money, and come from all over Europe. It seems it is the fave sport of the landed gentry LOL. Well, he pays my bills, so I'm not saying anything!! How the other half live.
Oh, talking of the other half, today I had a meeting with the marketing people who look after lots of fancy schmanzy hotels in the world, such as Trump Towers in NY, the Plaza Athenee in Paris, a hotel in Monte Carlo, that kind of thing. They have a particularly nice place near Birmingham called Stapleford Park (pronounced STAPPleford) where you can organise meetings and shooting, among other things. I met the woman who is in charge when I went to the Square Meal exhibition recently, and thought my boss would like the shooting opportunities. At the end of the meeting they said I should come and stay... of course, that means paying for it, but they would do me a good price, I'm sure. Sent the link to Wayne and he's as keen as me, so I reckon we'll do that in February, maybe for our birthdays. I like the spa-break.... How the other half live indeed!
Nearly forgot: got a bit of bad news from France today. My mum is back in isolation because they have discovered she still has the c diff bug. It's a pain, but they are trying to eradicate it by barrier nursing. Whoever visits has to don a gown, gloves etc. You can't bring anything home from her room. She can't go out. What a shame! And tomorrow, they actually have an outing for the patients tomorrow, which I'm sure she'd have loved, but she can't go either. Hope it's cleared by Christmas! She's ok though, and standing and walking and everything, although the speech is a bit iffy, so it's just a precaution.
I'm off now to catch Stop treating me like a kid, which the others are watching on E4. Sounds exciting!!
Have a great time meeting clare . I must come up sometime and see you . Fingers crossed for your mum XX
