Wow! What news!

My sister has just sent me an email about my mum's latest progress. Wow! She is doing really well. They were allowed to go to a physio session with her and saw her doing her exercises and sitting up unaided. The physio is very happy with her progress. Tomorrow they see the doctor, so maybe he/she will give us some idea of how long they think she'll stay there. On the Stroke Association website people say they were in hospital for 8 months... so I'm prepared! She also had a bit of a breakthrough: Mel was talking about the dog and how she was good at waiting for her to get up in the morning, and my mum burst into tears and the whole story of her CVA came out, how she had her tea in bed in the morning and then she kind of fell out of bed, couldn't get the phone, and lay on the floor with the dog curled up next to her, and how she was cold and then slept a little.... the whole thing. When I read it I cried! But it's GOOD, it can't stay inside her like it has - it's better out and "exorcised". So I'm very pleased. Especially as she seems to be going from strength to strength.

Anyway, at work things are very bizarre. Only a few more days and it's over! So strange. It seems I have invited half the hospital to come and share some cake on Friday - I never realised I knew so many people. And the nicest thing? Peope look so genuine when they say they'll miss me, that I'm helpful, that I'm nice, that I'm friendly.... it means a LOT. I may seem a loudmouth, but I have my insecurities ;)
