Things are hotting up...

... in the job search department. I got a call from an agency that I spoke to earlier in the week. The woman there has shown my cv to a company looking for a PA to Chief Exec with French - and they liked it but before they call me for interview they wanted me to do a test (do an expense report and compose a letter to a potential client). It is a VERY posh company, maybe even totally out of my league cos if you know anything about me, you'll know I might sound posh, but I am SOOOOOO far off being glamorous it's a joke!   The company website is here and if I ever win the lottery I'll be sure to book my holiday through them.....  But, if the Charity job doesn't come to anything, maybe this one will.  Aren't you as excited as I am with this plethora of offers????

I have an interview!

Yay!  I got a call back from the agency the same afternoon: I have an interview on Tuesday morning. Wow! How can I NOT be excited? This is a charity very close to my heart, as displayed in the link on my sidebar to the 'donations for Teresa' (bottom left).  Watch this space.

Just been catching up on some blog browsing and I found this video via a link on Mir's blog. If you have 5 minutes, crank the music up and watch. I got chills! And it's one of my very favourite pieces of music on there too.....

OMG OMG OMG!

Fingers crossed!   I have been very quiet due to lack of funds stopping me posting here (thank you for letting me back in Typepad), but so much has been going on jobwise. I have been getting lots of contacts and told about jobs that sound great, or sending my cv off for fab adverts... and today I got a call from one agency that just JUMPED at my cv, because of the clinical AND executive experience I have. It's for PA to Sir Alex Markham who is the head of Cancer Research UK. I would LOVE that job!!! Money is good and it's a charity, so I'm really really excited that they liked my cv. I am waiting to hear if I have an interview. This is the kind of job I'm waiting for!  Just can't stop smiling at the moment.

Here, just a little Photo of the Day. These chocolate yummy rice cakes I found in Sainsbury's today. Yummmmmm - low fat but still quite a few calories unfortunately!  Still, I feel virtuous eating them ;)

Well, I didn't get the job :(

Today I got a call from the agency that set me up with the Rickmansworth job. She's gutted but I didn't get it. In fact Tim, the guy who interviewed me first, is also gutted apparently. He thought I was perfect but his bosses have decided not to go with me OR the other girl shortlisted. We don't know why as yet, but they have done this before AND they have had 2 PAs who didn't work out so they are quite twitchy. Oh well. Things happen for a reason. And five minutes later I had a call about another job in London, better money, bonus, 25 days holiday etc.... with French. And I am still waiting to hear about the two brilliant jobs from last week. Something will come up. And it will be RIGHT!

I rose to the challenge!

My friend Kirsty invited us all to do a layout about ourselves. There are prizes!  Anyway, I promised I'd do it, and it really was supposed to be a proper, paper one, so here is my effort. The Jaffa Cake Queen wanted us to incorporate doodling if possible.  This is stepping way out of my comfort zone, and the perfectionist in me wants to start over - but hey!  It's for fun and it's done. In French. And it's me. So there you go!

Bookcrossing

A friend told me about Bookcrossing.com. Did you ever see the film Serendipity? Here's the synopsis:

Jonathan (John Cusack) and Sara (Kate Beckinsale) meet by chance one day shopping for each other's mates 5 days before Christmas. They decide to spend the day together and share a romantic and fun evening that leaves Jonathan begging for Sara's number. Sara, who believes heavily in fate and destiny tests their fate in several ways, including burying her number in a book and selling it to a used book shop. If Jonathan was meant to find it, he would. Years pass, and the two haven't seen each other since that day, with both scheduled to marry other people in a close time frame. Will they meet up again?

I find this fascinating, and I am going to sign up and "release" some of my books into the wild, as they put it. While I still work at the hospital, I shall leave some in the cafeteria, or give them to the charity ladies.... and we'll see what happens. The website has pages in French and other languages, and there are books everywhere, even on Cook Island, Surinam and "international airspace".  Let me know if you release any. Can it really be called Scrap"book"ing if it's not in a book? Just asking.

I found another digital scrapbooking website, thedigiboutique.com, and there was a challenge on there - about LAUGHTER. So I did this. Shame we look so freakin' weird in the picture!  It's very much what our relationship is about tho'......  He said something rude (and funny), I laughed and DD snapped the pic just at that moment.

Michael-from-next-door is touring with Ben Lee Tyler and we are going to see him in Camden in April. On his homepage there is now a video promoting his first single, Not My Fault. I'm so pleased for him and really hope they do well.  Shame the video was made before Michael joined! There's a bit of a guitar solo in it, and that's what Michael will be playing on stage.  Hope you like it.

Job search...

Still going well. Today I got two more calls about jobs in London. The salaries are phenomenal!  One of the agencies (that I have already registered with, so they know me) called and put a German woman on the phone to check what my German was like. They said it was good  - which was a relief;  I don't think I've said a word in German in the past 5 years!

Fingers crossed now.
