Back to work

Well there you go. Can't believe I've been off work for so long!  This morning I was a bit tense about facing everyone again, but people were so kind and Cathy, who has been temping in the hotseat, did a fantastic job. She made sure there wasn't a huge pile on my desk to depress me first thing. I need to buy her a box of chocs or something :)  Dr Clements rushed in, big smile, "I heard you were back", and rushed out again as he was off on his way to a meeting. We had a quick chat but we'll talk more tomorrow. He just seemed relieved to see me...

I told Blue Arrow that I wasn't  interested in the job I went for on Friday, as I have decided I'm not what they want. Actually, I've decided THEY aren't what I want... I got one automatic receipt from an agency in London, and am hoping for more feedback soon.  There are plenty of 'top' PA jobs in London, I just have to find the right one.

Wish I could write some witticism here or something, but nothing is forthcoming. Maybe another day!

HOW many days till Christmas?????

I'm beginning to feel a bit more Christmassy, especially as I got the decorations out and took some pictures of tinsel etc for my banner. I think we may put the tree up tomorrow. The thing is, the longer it's up, the more chance the cats have of pulling stuff off it or even having it down while we are out of the room.  They aren't even kittens any more , so I had hoped they would calm down with the antics!

Claire has been taking some wicked photos of herself and I asked her if I could put one on my blog. She kindly agreed. I love this one - I think she touched it up in Photoshop to make it B&W and fiddled with the contrast, but otherwise, just look at those eyes!  I love her SOOOO much. She is my special girl :)

It's Fridaaaaaaay!

Now I know I have been mighty up and down recently, and if I may, I would like to apologise for the downs 'cos really, who wants to read about other people's problems, right?   Thankfully, the mood today is still on the up, and it's been quite a positive day all told.   First of all, DD got off to school without a fuss, which is always cool; then I got to have a bit of a lie in with my young man rather than get up and go to work; and then I went off for my interview. Got a taxi because the forecast was heavy rain..... and the traffic was awful - I think everyone was queuing up to get into the shopping centre.   The interview went well, I think, but really and truly, (a) I don't have any call centre experience and (b) the money situation. I don't think they'll negotiate, as there are two other 'bid managers' there already, so they aren't likely to pay me more than them!!  That's ok - the experience was good, I needed it, I felt good (although why does my mouth dry up in situations like that?) and I now feel ready to look for a job in London. Needs must and I am looking forward to getting out of the poverty trap.

This afternoon I had another appointment with the Occupational Health counsellor. She was astounded at my progress since last week, and I teased her that one session with her had turned my life around.  Seriously, though, I told her that I knew I had "the tools", I had just lost sight of them in the stresses and strains of working for the NHS. So, the upshot of this is that I go back to work on Monday, but I start doing 9am to 1pm all week and then we'll decide what the next step is on Friday. I feel good, and I'm ready to face the world :)

I am dying to get scrapping again. Steph gave me a gorgeous album last year that I promised myself I would use for a Christmas diary/scrapbook, so I'm off to get that out and sit down and start it. You never know, you may even get pictures of it here!
