I got home safely yesterday and feel like I've had a much longer holiday than I actually have. It was very restful and great to have my mum to myself: when you are one of 7 I suppose you are used to not getting much 1 to 1 attention and of course, being a single mum it's always been me and Claire there together. My mum even commented on it to me, saying it had been years since she'd had me to herself as it were.
Talking of my mum, she is amazing! Even five (?) years after her stroke she continues to make progress. Her speech, although sometimes frustratingly elusive, is getting better and better. And her French is making a come-back too, which means that she can actually communicate with her home help and cleaner. She walks fine, although obviously slower now she is older, and she uses her right hand all the time, even if she has less of a grip than before and has had to learn to write with her left. We went for little walks up to the sea front, and sat and enjoyed the breeze while watching the gulls and wagtails.

It was very peaceful and such a balm for the soul.
I made regular little trips to the local supermarket, which is much nicer since it has had a total re-fit. Here are some of the things I picked up...
Yes, I have missed scrapping and intend to get down to doing some shortly! The "Be" magazine is for Claire and Côte Ouest is one of my favourite magazines - I really should get a subscription... It's about all things coastal and is a feast for the eyes.
I also dropped by the chemist's looking for something stronger than spf 15 for my face, as I have a dark patch on my chin that is apparently caused by sun damage. It looks rather like a birthmark and I don't really want it to get any bigger! While talking, the assistant showed me this Caudalie correcting serum for scars and dark patches. She said she uses it under her daycream and it's wonderful. I told her it wasn't fair, because SHE was only a young slip of a girl so any suggestion my skin could look like hers was not valid lol!

I must admit, it does make my skin feel lovely, although it's rather expensive at over £35 a smallish bottle. Well, I'm worth it....
Anyway, I realise I still have photos to upload but I'm off to bed now as I didn't realise it was quite so late. Toodle pip - I'll catch you later.

toodle pip!
